Turn off the “thinking” switch, turn on the “feeling” switch and read this quote from Beauchene: “You are never a great man when you have more mind than heart.”
Did you have the right switches turned off and on? Read it one more time: “You are never a great man when you have more mind than heart.”
This quote hits me deeply because I have done much more thinking than feeling during the past decade. I have valued my brain more than the thing thumping in my chest. I believe this is a pandemic in our society. We must find ways to keep a good balance of both.
John Eldredge, in his book “Waking the Dead,” says that “a person’s character is determined by his motives, and motive is always a matter of the heart.”
Staying in the head without venturing into the depths of the heart means never understanding our motives, passion and purpose. And what’s life without understanding that?
