Blogging for Business: Strike the Perfect Balance

Efficiency is the name of the game at Agents of Efficiency (obviously) so we’re making it even more efficient for you to improve your business. Every week, we sort through all the boring stuff to bring you the best tips from the wide world of the web. For this week’s #2tips4tues, we examine the all-important topic of blogging for business owners.

Bloggers are like baristas..

If you’re not an expert writer, it probably seems as though certain businesses are magically drumming up business from any old article they spit out. But in reality, a small business with a strong blog probably has a thoughtful strategy behind it. Mind Development and Design compares content creation to a perfect cup of joe that must contain all the right ingredients. You must: be relevant, publish fact over opinion, always consider your audience’s view, focus on features and benefits, and of course, use an easy-to-read font. Hit every point and your readers will undoubtedly come back again and again.

Audit your content..

QuickSprout’s Neil Patel warns against letting your blog collect too much dust. You don’t need to edit old blog posts daily, or even weekly, as this would eat up a lot of your time. However, it’s wise to perform a quarterly blog audit to ensure old content is accurate and up-to-date. For example, you may have expressed an opinion that you’ve since changed your mind about. Or an older post may not have a tone that matches your current branding strategy. Outdated links may need to be updated as well. Regardless of how well you write, it’s always wise to do a blog checkup every now and then.
