Every week, we sort through all the boring stuff to bring you the best tips from the wide world of the web. For this week’s #2tips4tues, we focus on the efficiency of fitness.
Short-Term Pain, Long-Term Gain
Every hour of our day counts when running a business, and so it’s easy to forget to make time to maintain your health. Getting your heart pumping has tremendous results for your overall stamina and focus. And we continue to hear much about how enduring brief moments of discomfort can condition us to handle difficult situations, and the effects of a regular workout keeps our minds sharp as well. If you’re hard pressed to squeeze in some physical fitness, there is really no excuse. In 2013, the much publicized 7-minute workout caused a rightful stir as the most efficient means of exercise. If you’re going to the trouble of changing into gym clothes and breaking a sweat, you might as well take a little more time and incorporate a longer run or bike ride to give your mind time to get ready for or recuperate from a stressful day.
The results of running a business may take months or years to fully mature, so it’s important to make sure you do something just for yourself that has a direct impact. And while the pounds won’t fall off right away, seeing yourself sweat and have a nice little high off the exercise is a great reminder of the hard work you’re putting in. And if you really must relate it back to your business, there are countless examples of how an early morning workout can jump start your day. Evening routines can also help your body shake off the remaining stress of the day and keep you fresh for what tomorrow might bring. Morning, noon or night, don’t neglect your workouts.
